Prayer Shawl Ministry

prayer shawlWhat is a Prayer Shawl?
Care and the love of knitting and crochet have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need a tangible reminder of God’s ever-present comfort and love.  Many blessings are woven into every shawl.

The crafter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient and continues praying throughout the creation of the shawl.  When it is completed it is offered a final blessing before being presented.

Prayer Shawls Comfort:

  • People undergoing medical treatment
  • New mothers and babies
  • People in hospice care
  • People who are mourning
  • People in stressful circumstances
  • People who need an emblem of caring from someone
  • The one who knits or crochets as s/he expresses his/her concern for others and her creativity in the service of God

How to Participate
Some people prefer to knit or crochet their shawls at home and bring them to the church office when they are completed.  Others enjoy knitting or crocheting as a group. The CPC Prayer shawl ministry meets once a month on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the CPC Wholeness Center

If you would like to be a part of this ministry but do not know how to knit or crochet, please contact us and we will be sure someone is at the meeting who can get you started.
